Welcome to Earthen Routes, a farm and social project that strives to create a sustainable and organic community. Our mission is to provide nourishing food for the paediatric patients of St. Jude’s ChildCare Centre at TATA Advance Centre for Treatment, Research & Education in Cancer (ACTREC), in Kharghar, Navi Mumbai. We invite you to explore our beautiful farm, participate in workshops and volunteering sessions, and experience the benefits of being close to nature.

We also offer consultations for kitchen-garden setups and urban land projects. Join us in our mission to Enrich Urban Communities, one organic plant at a time.

“Start Where you are. Use what you have. Do what you can”. – Arthur Ashe

Our Dream

We envision a world where natural farming methods are practiced in cities, creating holistic and self-sustaining systems. We aim to replicate our wonderful, organic community farm model to other hostels within TATA ACTREC and even beyond it! In a world of mass consumptions and busy lifestyles, we strive to create a social impact by bringing the benefits of sustainable farming to urban settings.

Our Values

Permaculture: This is a philosophy that creates self-sustaining systems using locally available weather, landscape, and resources. We follow three principles under Permaculture: Earth-Care, People-Care, and Fair-Share.
Sustainability: Natural and sustainable farming methods are at the core of our practices. We value sustainable living and being connected with the very soil we come from.
Community: Building connections, strengthening each other, and working towards a common cause. Conscious Food: Growing Local, Conscious and Climate-friendly food.

“A Permaculture economy is one whereby people are inclusively participating in productivity and equitable sharing in profits.”
– Hendrith Vanlon Smith Jr,

Volunteering

Our volunteers are what keep this place going! We welcome people of all genders, age groups and backgrounds to volunteer at our farm. Over the years we have been warmed to hear that volunteering has offered people a valuable respite, a way to connect with friends, learn about farming and be part of a community. Timings for our regular volunteering program are SAT – SUN, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Group visits

As a community farm, we welcome group visits that include informative tours of the farm and fun experiential activities. We also offer packages for small groups and events, including children’s birthday parties, school trips and corporate visits.

Wellbeing

Restoring places. Restoring people. For those not looking for a regular volunteering experience, Earthen Routes is also open as a healing place for people seeking to centre themselves in times of pain and distress.
